I thought the sports newspaper, Champion, was really great. I circulated my copy around our track club and made Xerox copies of the article on Brian Maxwell.

TO THE EDITOR:

I really found Champion interesting, especially the build-up and analysis up to the Commonwealth Games. It’s pretty evident that your system seems to be working. New Zealand sport hasn’t got the financial backing that Canada has. This doesn’t deter from the fact that Canadian results at the Games clearly illustrate that if sport wants success, you have to have talent and the money to develop it.
